PHotoEspaña's portfolio review, Descubrimientos PHE, has been held since 1998. Aimed at the professional photographers, personal meetings are arranged between them and photography specialists. This training program offers photographers the opportunity to showcase their work to international curators and editors.

This year, portfolio reviews have taken place in Costa Rica, Mexico and, next June, in Madrid. Descubrimientos PHE will be held at the Centro de Arte Alcobendas, from 4 to June 6. All participating artist will show their work to a group or reviewers, among them Blanca Berlín, gallery owner (Madrid); Simon Bainbridge, Editor of the British Journal of Photography (London); Carmen Brunner, Photo Editor at Dummy Magazin (Berlin); Denis Curti, Vice-President of Forma, Centro Internazionale di Fotografia, Director of Casa di tre Oci and Director of PhotoFestival in Capri (Italy); Paul di Felice, Curator, art critic, Senior Lecturer at the University of Luxembourg and Director of the European Month of Photography (Luxembourg); Janne Jönsson, Photography Curator at Landskrona Museum (Sweden); Vincent Marcilhacy, Editor from Aman Iman Publishing (France); Jean-Marc Lacabe, Director of Le Château D’eau (Toulouse); Iñaki Martínez Antelo, Director de MARCO (Vigo); Shoair Mavlian, Assistant Curator of the Photography Departament at the Tate Modern (London); Patricia Morvan, Cultural projects and exhibitions, Agence Vu' (Paris); Walter Moser, Director in charge of the collection, present-day photography, the Albertina Museum(Vienna); Cheryl Newman, Photo Editor at the Telegraph Magazine (England); Alison Nordstrom, Curator-at-Large at the George Eastman House (Rochester, New York); Glòria Picazo, Director of the Centre d’Art La Panera (Lleida/Lérida); Ulrich Pohlmann, Director of the Fotomuseum (Munich); Arianna Rinaldo, Editor and Director of OjodePez magazine (Italy); Maarten Schilt, founder and Editor of Schilt Publishing (Netherlands); Stefano Stoll, Director of the Festival Images (Switzerland); and Elviera Velghe, Director of FoMu Antwerp (Belgium).

The finalists of all three portfolio reviews, Madrid, Costa Rica and Mexico, will compete for the Descubrimientos PHE Award, which was awarded to Yaakov Israel in the past edition.
