ANA DE ALVEAR. IN THE FORCED VORTEX
18 October 2017 - 23 November 2017 Centro de Arte Alcobendas
"The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." Genesis 1, 2.
In the Forced Vortex consists of 2 paintings, both 3 meters tall and 7 meters long for which each of the paintings had to be divided into different sections due to its size. In reality, the work is composed by 100 paintings, each of them 60x70 cm wide which join together.
Specifically conceived for the recently restored Espíritu Santo chapel in the Cathedral of Cuenca, the artwork is shown in the Art Center of Alcobendas from October 18th to November 23rd 2017, for it to be seen in Madrid.
Both complete paintings exist in a 1m x 70 cm format as previous studies.
A great piece of work, only 49 cm short of Picasso’s Guernica. It was created only using color pencils for a specific space, in which it fits like a glove.
