JOHANN RYNO DE WET. INTROSPECT
3 July 2014 - 2 September 2014 Centro de Arte Alcobendas
Johann Ryno de Wet (Johannesburg, South Africa, 1982) is a young and emerging artist of international renown. He successfully exhibited in galleries, art fairs, and museums of Europe, South Africa, and the USA.
Revealing the unconscious mind in fantastic dream imagery landscape with which we seem vaguely familiar with. This is the work of the young supremely talented Ryno de Wet. His talents have been recognized by one of the leaders in fine art photography, the prestigious Aperture Foundation, and included in an elite group of young artist for their "reGeneration. 50 photographers of tomorrow" project. His images become deeply personal to each and every onlooker. He is a creator of dystopian and cinematographic worlds in which the "no man's land" plays a leading role. Ryno de Wet colonizes each corner of his photographs with an overdose of mystery, panic and disturbance.
The land of dreams continues to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration, through which one can travel as fully awake. There can be no other explanation for his audacious and chimerical photos. Ryno de Wet effectively uses digital techniques to transform a point of departure into one of arrival that is only in his head, in his "visions".
His works are collected by both private and public collections across the world including South Africa, Spain, Belgium, United Kingdom, Mexico and USA, like the Tucson Museum of Art, Arizona, the Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne, and the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid.
