THE NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE INCLUDED IN THE COLECCIÓN ALCOBENDAS (PHE13)

7 June 2013 - 28 July 2013 Fundación Antonio Saura. Casa Zavala. Cuenca

Curator: José María Díaz-Maroto
Organized by: Ayuntamiento de Cuenca. PHotoEspaña
In collaboration with: Colección Alcobendas. Fundación Antonio Saura. Casa Zavala

The Colección Alcobendas (Alcobendas Colletion) currently comprises more than 750 works by 142 Spanish photographers. The grown, preservetaion and, above all, dissemination of its collection have always featured prominently among its original goals.

As part of PHotoEspaña 2013, the city of Cuenca will host an exhibition that revolves around the artists who currently hold the Nacional Photography Prize, established by the Ministry of Culture in 1994. In its 20 years of existence, the award has explored different styles and different approaches, following no specific tendency and mixing generations as disparate as Joan Colom and Bleda y Rosa. Landscapes, portraits, still lifes, reportages, abstraction, fantasy, irony and provocation are all combined with techniques and formats that take us on a journey over more than half a century of photographic creation.

The images on display constitute a portion of the works by the award-winning artists held by the Colección Alcobendas.
