Braga Circle, 2003
Red stones. 500 cm
Location: Parque de Andalucía
Richard Long's work is linked with Land Art. His creations uses the landscape and the most elementary natural materials, like stones, mud, grass, algae... Always is a slight intervention, simple that fleeing of the monumentality and in some cases, ephemeral. He doesn't pretend big changes, only a mark, a signal. His emblematic works are the result of long walks for remote planet places. However he performed works in the interior of galleries, museums and public spaces.
A red stone circle marks the chosen place, a simple answer to how he feels this natural environment. The circle is simple, neutral, abstract, but also powerful, evocative from ancient rituals, misterious footprints from our ascendants. Long, the artist who walks, invite us about our relation of the nature, always fragile, always changing.
