Stephan Balkenhol (Fritzlar, Germany, 1957)
Man Moving, 2003
Polychrome Bronze. 210 x 40 x 40 cm
Location: Bulevar Salvador Allende
Stephan Balkenhol´s work speaks about his interest in reintroduce the human figure in contemporary art. His sculptures of ordinary men and women, undefined and impersonal, belonging to the present, mirrors of all and each of us. Balkenhol searches for objectivity and neutrality in the human representation. As spectators we felt this man, familiar and distant at the same time. The pedestal helps to show this piece in a certain height, but without hierarchical isolation. The artist proposed the beginning of a history between contemporary man and woman without end, this that we must complete, as spectators.
