Cristina García Rodero
The Spanish photographer Cristina García Rodero was awarded the International Photography Alcobendas, in its second edition in 2011. The jury wanted to recognize the human quality and the continued development of an innate concern for children in her photographs, which show widespread "relations between humankind and its environment", coexistence, ultimately the human being. They also acknowledged the significant presence of children in most of her works, with special attention to human relations showing their feelings.
Cristina Garcia Rodero is considered one of the higher-profile and creative transcendence photographers in Spain. It was in the university when she started in the field of photography. Since then, she is dedicated to research with her camera popular celebrations, pagan and religious, of Mediterranean Europe, especially Spain. Result of this work is her book Spain hidden (Lunwerg, 1989), which has received numerous prestigious awards.
National Photography Award in 1996 and a member of Magnum Photos agency since 2005, Cristina Garcia Rodero is immersed for years in her most personal project entitled Between heaven and earth, a huge log music festivals, eroticism and sex, fun sites, displayed or love, of human or transcendent contact. Proof of this are Rituals in Haiti (tf Editions, 2001) or Burning Man, a work about the festival held in the Nevada desert each September.
